Buying kites in Lahore, after eighteen years

Lahore flew legally at Basant 2026 for the first time since 2007. Kites sold in the city must now carry a government QR sticker naming a licensed manufacturer, sit within legal size limits, and be sold by a registered seller. We are one, and every price on this site is listed openly.

The practical difference between a registered seller and a stall is not service, it is verification. A kite with no working sticker cannot be traced to a licensed maker, may be confiscated, and is usually cheap for exactly that reason. The same logic applies far more seriously to string.

Lahore is also where the trade has always physically lived. The alleys behind Mochi Gate, Shah Alam Market and Old Anarkali have sold patang for generations, and the Punjab government designated approved-seller clusters in the Walled City, Gulshan-e-Ravi and Thokar Niaz Baig. If you would rather buy in person, our guide to those markets is worth reading first.

Questions about buying kites in Lahore

Where can I buy approved kites in Lahore?

From any seller registered under the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Ordinance 2025. We take pre-bookings across Lahore now and deliver once sale is permitted; the traditional markets at Mochi Gate, Shah Alam and Old Anarkali sell in person. Check the QR sticker on any kite before you buy it.

Do you deliver across Lahore?

We will, to every area of the city including DHA, Gulberg, Model Town, Johar Town, Bahria Town and the Walled City — but not yet. Basant 2027 is announced for 12–14 March, and we deliver once the government issues sale permits. Until then, pre-bookings only.

Is your stock government approved?

Yes. We are registered as a seller by the Deputy Commissioner, Lahore, and every kite we sell carries the government QR sticker that resolves to the e-Biz Punjab portal naming its licensed manufacturer. We source only from manufacturers licensed in the four approved districts.

Do I have to pay in advance?

Not unless you want your price locked. A free reservation takes no deposit — payment is cash to the courier on delivery, once sale is permitted, and you can cancel any time on WhatsApp. Paying 50% in advance (bank transfer, JazzCash, NayaPay or SadaPay) locks the listed price, refunded in full if the festival is cancelled.

What kite string do you sell in Lahore?

Legal cotton pinna and dor only, in ply grades from 9 to 18. We do not sell metallic or chemical-coated manjha, and we will not source it on request. Coated string is banned under the 2025 Ordinance and it is what caused the original eighteen-year ban.
