About dor & pinna
This is the part of the catalogue where the law is least ambiguous, so we will be blunt about it. Under the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Ordinance 2025, only thread-based cotton string is legal. Metallic string, chemical-coated string and any sharpened manjha are banned outright, and they are banned because they killed people — seventeen died during Basant 2026. We sell legal 9-ply cotton pinna only, we do not stock coated string, and we will not source it if asked.
The eight names on this shelf — 8 Chain, 35 Minar, Air Blade, 100 Escort, 25 Minar, 21 King Panda, 2 Kaata, 35 Markhor — are the traditional string names Lahore flyers ask for. The numbers are part of the name, not a measurement; every one of these is 9-ply cotton. If a seller tells you the number means yards or strength, they are improvising.
Every pinna comes in three quantities: 2 piece, 4 piece or 6 piece, where one piece is 1,000 yards of wound cotton. The 4 and 6 piece prices are exact multiples of the 2 piece rate — bulk is not discounted, for the same supply-honesty reason the kites are not.
Prices shown are today's market rates and they move — the same pinna sold anywhere from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,500 across sellers in 2026, and rates climbed steeply in the final week. A free reservation is charged at the market rate on delivery day; a 50% deposit locks the listed price in both directions. Buy gloves with your first pinna — cotton under load will still take the skin off your fingers.
